Wednesday 15 June 2011 the Aus Chmbr of Commerce in HK? presents IPO: A GLOBAL GUIDE with Philippe Espinasse, author of IPO: A Global Guide, a recently published? guide to conducting an initial public offering (IPO) for issuers, entrepreneurs, market practitioners- and anyone generally interested in IPOs and equity capital markets (ECM) transactions.

During this session, Philippe will give his unique insight into the issue process globally, but with particular reference to market practice and transactions across the Asia-Pacific region.?

Philippe spent more than 19 years working as a senior investment banker for S.G.Warburg (now UBS Investment Bank), Macquarie and Nomura.? Throughout his career, he successfully completed more than 140 corporate finance transactions, including many billion-dollar privatisation and private sector IPOs, equity and equity-linked fund raisings, real estate investment trusts, infrastructure funds, principal and pre-IPO investments, M&A and advisory transactions, euro- and domestic bond issues and debt private placements.

He has marketed to issuers, and/or executed, capital markets offerings across some 30 jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Macau, Malaysia, the People?s Republic of China, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. He lives in Hong Kong, where he writes and works as an independent consultant. His writings have been published on the Dow Jones Investment Banker global news platform, on WSJ.com, in The Wall Street Journal, and on the website of BBC News. He has also appeared on Bloomberg Television and on Hong Kong’s RTHK radio.

Philippe’s book, IPO: A Global Guide, explores in an approachable way the reasons why, and how, private businesses turn into listed companies; the strategies, procedures and documentation; as well as the valuation, marketing, investor base, pricing and allocation of an IPO. It also addresses post-IPO processes, including price stabilization, investor relations, as well as financing and other activities after listing. The guide includes many recent, real-life case studies; a review of listing requirements for major stock exchanges around the world; and sample documents to support the explanations. It discusses all equity products, from straight equity to units in real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure funds to more recent ECM developments.
