A prominent New Mexico defense attorney who had been accused of bringing drugs into a prison now faces additional charges of allegedly possessing child pornography.
Lawyer Brian Pori of New Mexico was charged in March with trying to smuggle suboxone through an eyeglasses case at the Cibola County Correctional Center near Grants, New Mexico, according to stories by KRQE and KOAT.
When Pori was first arrested on the drug charge, he told an officer that he was two weeks away from retirement, according to KRQE.
“I think I’m pretty well respected among the judges of the U.S. district court, and I’m going to tell everyone who can listen that I was falsely accused,” he said.
Court documents said Pori gave consent to the FBI to search his cellphone, as long as communications with clients were filtered out. The search allegedly revealed 35 sexually explicit pictures and videos showing victims ages 10 years to 6 months old, according to the stories.
