Asia Pacific Legal Officer – IDRL MYR 4000 – 4500 (Kuala Lumpur)

Responsibilities:

Support the activities of the International Disaster Response Laws, Rules and Principles (IDRL) Asia Pacific in implementing the IDRL Strategic Plan for 2010-2011 in the Asia Pacific region, as directed by the IDRL Asia Pacific Coordinator
Ensure the effective management of administrative and reporting tasks of the IDRL Asia Pacific Unit
Undertake specific legal and disaster management policy research and other tasks associated with legislative technical assistance projects, as well as global research projects related to IDRL as well as other legal aspects associated with Disaster Management.
Organize and contribute to the conduct of workshops and seminars on disaster law and legislative advocacy
Represent the IDRL Asia-Pacific Unit at meetings as requested and give presentations on IDRL issues.
Support the Asia-Pacific coordinator in drafting articles, newsletter content and other substantive and dissemination materials
Support the Asia-Pacific Coordinator in forming networks and disseminating legal preparedness information.
Contribute to IDRL Asia Pacific?s reporting, including donor and programme reports.
Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Master’s Degree, Law or equivalent.
Required skill(s): professional communication skills – written and verbal, fluent spoken and written english, Good knowledge and understanding of disaster management and law/policy-making processes, MS Office.
Required language(s): English
At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Preferably Senior Executives specializing in Law/Legal Services or equivalent.
