China’s legal system has developed at great speed since the Communist Party embarked on its path of economic reform in 1979. Whilst this legal system reflects contemporary China’s vibrant, market based economy and fast changing society it also undoubtedly reflects the Party’s ubiquitous networks and influence and the continued domination of the economy by state owned enterprises.
