Article: Ousted Houston lawyer breaks silence after high-profile breakup

Breakups are always hard, but during the holidays, they can be especially brutal. Perhaps that’s why Chi-Hung David Nguyen, formerly of punny Houston lawyer Pusch & Nguyen billboard fame, is breaking his silence after being ousted from the firm that made him famous.

Houston personal injury lawyers Anthony Pusch and Nguyen have been in a legal battle since April that has spelled the end for Pusch & Nguyen. Pusch is joined now by the similarly named Houston injury attorney Bob Wynne. Meanwhile, Nguyen has been shut out of the firm and is barred from using the puns for which the firm was known, including “We Push You Win” and “Avocados At Law.”

The break-up started taking shape in July 2024, when Pusch sued Nguyen for breaches of both contract and fiduciary duty and asked a court to dissolve their business partnership. However, the two made up, and even created a billboard joking about it. But that brotherly love ended earlier this year, when Pusch admitted in court to expelling Nguyen from the firm and alleged Nguyen broke the company’s founding contract agreement, conspired to defraud the firm and more.

In a four-minute, meme-filled video posted to TikTok and Instagram on Dec. 23, Nguyen gave his point of view on the drama after noting that a lot of people sent him Pusch & Wynne’s new billboard spoofing the movie It’s Complicated. He alleges that he outgrew his environment and that he wasn’t valued at Pusch & Nguyen.

“I think complications usually aren’t the real problem; they’re typically the symptom,” Nguyen says in the video. “Because when you’re not valued, when your contributions are minimized and taken for granted, when you’re expected to pour everything out while others give nothing back, that’s when it becomes toxic.”
