There are a lot of Substacks these days. A lot. Readers of this Substack are particularly interested in the ins and outs of law school and legal education. So here are five Substacks worth reading—check them out if you so desire!
First, Daniel B. Rodriguez. Dan is a former law school dean and has served extensively in leadership positions across legal education. (I was a fan of his blogging long ago, “Word on the Streeterville.”) He does extensive work with AALS and ALI at the moment. Dan has the right mix of institutional perspectives for bench, bar, and faculty.
Second, Legal Education Matters by Barry Currier. Barry is the former Managing Director of Accreditation and Legal Education at the ABA, and he has a deep working knowledge of how accreditation interacts with federal regulation and licensure.
Third, Legal Ethics Roundup by Renee Jefferson. Renee teaches at Houston but is deeply involved on a range of issues relating to the legal profession, including ethics issue, and she currently sits on the Council for the Section on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar.
Fourth, Original Jurisdiction by David Lat. He likely needs to introduction—a prolific writer for more than two decades, David has long had his ear to the ground of legal practice and legal education. His extensive commentary ranges from federal clerkships to big law practice, and his insight ensures a range of views are heard.
Fifth, Legal Theory Stack by Lawrence Solum. Larry just took a position at Texas A&M, and his long-running blogging tirelessly tracks recent legal scholarship of note. His Substack offers essays on current events facing legal scholarship or the state of the legal academy, among other things.
