Website Alanat Network News is reporting that the Rio Tinto employees in China recently arrested by authorities under industrial spying charges will be
represented by local lawyers.
The site reports
Stern Hu, the head of Rio?s iron ore sales team in China, was arrested last month alongside three Chinese employees. Mr Hu is an Australian citizen and the situation is causing diplomatic strains between China and Australia.
Either Duan Qihua or Charles Duan, the founders of Duan & Duan, China?s first private law firm, will represent the men. The lawyers have filed to see their clients, but they may not be granted access at this stage.
