The sale includes online collections and datasets, as well as significant print and microform collections from the three branches of government and historical materials in American Studies, International Studies, and Social Sciences & Humanities. ProQuest has long been known for converting acquired microform materials into digital products. With this announcement, ProQuest notes that the CIS and UPA materials will dovetail with the company’s existing National Security Archives holdings and UK historic parliamentary papers, among others, and will figure into new product offerings.
LexisNexis, for its part, appears to be making an effort to focus on its legal information business and other data-driven products for academic, public, and school libraries. Meanwhile, Reed Elsevier last week announced that LexisNexis Chief Executive Andy Prozes would retire and would not be replaced as CEO, nor as a Reed Elsevier board member.
