Announcement: Julie Christmas, Senior Manager at international law firm Allen & Overy LLP, has become President of BIALL.
Julie has 26 years of experience in the information world, 21 of those in the legal sector. She joined Allen & Overy in 2002 and has worked her way up from Assistant Librarian to her current role as Senior Manager. This role involves leading a team of procurement and practice group specialists supporting over 5000 users across 40+ offices with timely, economic and efficient access to information products. She is responsible for establishing the team as a centre of excellence for information resource management, developing and maintaining global systems, policies and standards for managing the firm’s assets and digital/print budgets.
Additionally, Julie has contributed significantly to the success and development of BIALL, starting as a member of the Conference Committee and eventually becoming Chair and seeing the Annual Conference through the 50th Anniversary event in Bournemouth in 2019. She then took the lead in organising the inaugural full online conference in 2021 by way of the taster event in 2020.
Commenting on her appointment, Julie said, “I feel privileged to become the President of BIALL, following in the footsteps of many talented and experienced information professionals, not least Diane Miller who continues as Immediate Past President and leaves some big shoes to fill. BIALL is very much a sum of its parts – its members and volunteers from all areas of the legal information profession – and I look forward to working with everyone, ensuring the Association continues to evolve to support and develop our members.”
On handing over the role to Julie, Diane Miller added, “I am delighted to hand over the gavel to Julie. She has fantastic BIALL credentials and will be a great President. It has been a pleasure working alongside Julie during her time as President Elect and I wish her all the best for the next year.”
