Amnesty Looking For Volunteer Librarians In London

Maybe if your work has been cut back or if you just feel like braving Shoreditch once a week this is for you.. as they say it’s a good cause.

Amnesty write….

Dear all,

We are currently recruiting volunteers to assist in Amnesty’s public access library (the Resource Centre), based at the Human Rights Action Centre in Shoreditch. I’d appreciate it if you could circulate this email to anyone you know who may be interested in volunteering with us for at least one day a week (minimum commitment of 3 months). It would also be great if you could put the vacancy advert up on any uni or other relevant noticeboards you have access to (email me off list for the advert please). Volunteers will gain experience of working in a specialist library, the skills and experience to update web pages and the opportunity to research human rights issues. The three selected volunteers will assist with: staffing our public access Resource Centre, producing current awareness bulletins, maintaining and cataloguing resources and researching specific issues in order to develop our online and hardcopy resources. Travel expenses and luncheon vouchers provided. Volunteers should be available for one or more days a week. Candidates should have an interest in pursuing a career in, or previous experience in the library/information profession. Amnesty International values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. Further details and an application form available from:

If you have any queries concerning the Resource Centre or the information and knowledge management team at Amnesty, please do not hesitate to contact me and feel free to forward this information on to anyone you know who may be interested in applying.

Best wishes,
