Amendments to the law on the inter-municipal cooperation presented in Ukraine

Members of the Parliament presented the draft law “On amendments to the law on inter-municipal co-operation” during the Congress hearings on 15 July 2024. The presentation was organised by the Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine in cooperation with the Council of Europe Programme “Strengthening Good Democratic Governance and Resilience in Ukraine” and the USAID Program “Decentralization Offering Better Results and Efficiency” (DOBRE).

The proposed draft Law was presented by its author Mr Oleksandr ALIKSIICHUK, Member of the Parliament of Ukraine, Chair of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Cooperation of Territorial Communities and Regions, the Parliamentary Committee on Organisation of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning. It was prepared taking into account the findings of the Council of Europe survey carried out in 2023 and following analytical reports elaborated by its national consultant Olena Boiko.

The draft law was supported by all the three national associations of local authorities of basic tier – Association of Ukrainian Cities, Association of Amalgamated Territorial Communities and Association of Communities.
