The Lawyer (UK) reports that…
Allen & Overy (A&O) has expanded its Singapore services by merging with local firm and former White & Case ally Venture Law. (here’s their URL http://www.venturelaw.com.sg/ but it doesn’t link for us — not a good sign)
The Lawyer reports….
Venture Law’s two partners Lock Yin Mei and Kenny Kwan have joined A&O’s Singapore office along with all the firm’s fee earners.
White & Case broke off its alliance with Venture Law in March after winning a licence to practice in Singapore in December last year.
A&O was also granted a licence in the first round of applications, along with Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith, Latham & Watkins and Norton Rose.
Venture Law specialised in capital markets and corporate, and the addition of Yin Mei and Kwan brings the total number of partners at A&O’s Singapore office to nine. In total the office now has 44 fee-earners under managing partner Kenneth Aboud.
Firmwide managing partner David Morley said: “Our strategy is to be a leading legal adviser in all key markets where our clients are. The addition of Yin Mei, Kenny and the team builds on this strategy and further strengthens our offerings in Singapore and South East Asia generally.”
