AALL’S STATEMENTS & UPDATES

2020 AALL ANNUAL MEETING & CONFERENCE CANCELED

In response to continued concerns related to COVID-19, the AALL Executive Board has made the very difficult decision to cancel the in-person AALL Annual Meeting & Conference scheduled for this July in New Orleans.  The health and safety of our members and program attendees along with continued travel restrictions for most of our members and speakers were major factors in the decision-making process.

If you have already registered for the Annual Meeting in New Orleans, you will be receiving a separate email from AALL regarding available options. Those options include a full refund or deferring your registration to the 2021 AALL Annual Meeting in Cleveland. If you made a hotel reservation for the AALL Annual Meeting within AALL’s block of rooms, AALL will cancel your room reservation. Additionally, information for exhibitors and sponsors will be forthcoming.

The Executive Board and AALL staff are working with AALL committees, juries, and other entities to develop a plan to provide a virtual meeting option during the summer months in lieu of the in-person Annual Meeting. As those plans develop, we will be in contact to share more details.

If you have further questions, please call AALL Headquarters at 312.939.4764 or email [email protected].

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL GRACE PERIOD & UNEMPLOYED RATE

Renewals for the 2020-2021 membership year are open. During these challenging times, AALL is offering a ninety-day grace period before your member benefits cease. The grace period runs from June 1, 2020 through September 1, 2020. As we continue to navigate this constantly evolving health crisis, it is more important than ever for law librarians and legal information professionals to support each other. AALL will continue to provide you with the right tools and resources to keep you moving forward.

AALL offers a discounted membership rate for members who are recently unemployed (verification required). If your employment situation has changed and you wish to receive this discount, please contact member services.

VIRTUAL MEETING/EVENT LICENSE FOR CHAPTERS

Through June 30, AALL has access to GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar, which chapters may use during these uncertain times to help stay connected. Since it is a single license, AALL will coordinate usage for chapters; scheduling is on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Christopher Siwa for additional information and to schedule a meeting/event. The following information is required for scheduling: name of the event, date and times, and if it is a meeting or webinar.

GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS DEADLINE EXTENSIONS

Since many members are currently working in a remote environment, we have extended the deadline for all AALL’s grants and scholarships to May 15, 2020 (originally April 1).

For AALL members serving on award, grant, and scholarship juries/committees, this will give your groups additional time to meet and make final decisions. If you have any questions, please contact your staff liaisons.

2020 AALL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY POSTPONED

The 2020 AALL Leadership Academy has been postponed to August 7-8; Leadership Academy participants have been contacted with information for hotel rebooking.

2020 AALL CI STRATEGIES & ANALYSIS

AALL’s upcoming CI Strategies & Analysis in Chicago, Illinois is being redeveloped into a virtual
course to take place this fall. If you are interested in registering for the virtual course, please email
Celeste Smith, AALL director of education. Additional information will be forthcoming—please
