Join us for this joint All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) and UKELA event.

The webinar will provide a timely opportunity to get up to speed with recent climate change developments and understand how they might impact on legal practice over the next few years.

What will the increased levels of ambition in the UK’s 2030 target and the requirement for a net zero transition by 2050 mean for your clients and practice area? How might legal documents and practice change to reflect changing business practices across multiple sectors including finance, energy generation, land use and commercial supply chains.

5.35pm: Kat Kramer, Christian Aid – Brief overview of climate developments, revised UK 2030 target, Climate Ambition Summit, CCC 6th Carbon Budget report.

5.45pm: Chris Stark, Climate Change Committee – Digging down on the practical implications of the Net Zero target for different sectors (as per the CCC’s sectoral analysis accompanying the 6th carbon budget.

5.55pm: Caroline Lucas MP, Green Party – the road to Net Zero.

6.05pm: Ellie Mulholland, Minter Ellison, Director, Commonwealth Climate Law Initiative – Translating the targets and policy into impacts on the legal profession.  How should lawyers respond and how can they support their clients in the transition?

6.15pm Questions from the audience, chaired by Becky Clissmann, co-convenor Climate Change & Energy Working Party
