Thomas Torello has been named Director of Communications and Marketing for Albany Law School. He replaces Chris Colton, who left the school last fall.
Torello will oversee the Office of Communications and Marketing, whose responsibilities include media and public relations, marketing, publications, social media, the alumni magazine, and the School’s website.
Torello will work closely with all areas of the School to enhance Albany Law’s academic reputation and strengthen the School’s brand. He will be responsible for managing internal and external communications and will also advise senior leadership.
Torello has extensive experience in higher education. Most recently he served as Chief Communications Officer for Union College. He has also held leadership positions in communications and marketing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Ithaca College, Pace University and Salem State University.
He holds a bachelor’s in communications from Ithaca College, with a major in television and radio and a minor in philosophy and religion.
“Albany Law School is a unique institution with a strong history and outstanding reputation,” Torello said. “I look forward to working with the School’s faculty and leadership to help expand our presence and bring more attention to the important work being done here.”
“Tom brings a great deal of experience and creativity to the position and will be a perfect fit for Albany Law,” Jeffrey Schanz, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Chief of Staff said. “The Communications and Marketing team have been doing excellent work for the School and Tom is the right person to help build on that success.”
