ALB Reports Harney’s To Open Office in Singapore

Here’s the report –
Offshore law firm Harneys is growing its Asian presence with the launch of an office in Singapore, its seventh worldwide and second in the region.

Harneys’ global banking and finance head Colin Riegels will relocate from Hong Kong to head the Singapore office, which is set to open its doors on April 7. He will be joined by funds partner Lisa Pearce, who will also move to Singapore from Hong Kong, and four other lawyers.

While the Singapore office will offer the full complement of offshore transactional services, it will focus on corporate finance, investment funds and private wealth, said Riegels.

“Singapore is a key jurisdiction in terms of cross-border capital flows and private wealth in Southeast Asia. It is also a market that makes extensive use of offshore holding company and fund structures,” added Riegels.

“Harneys’ Asia practice has experienced explosive growth over the last couple of years, and we plan to build upon that success story in Singapore,” he added.

The firm currently has offices in London, Hong Kong, Cyprus, Cayman Islands, Montevideo and the BVI.
