We suppose it’s good to see that some firms are still participating in the inexact science of law firm awards. We thought law firm awards died along with britpop. But like Oasis,? Supergrass & Keane these awards ceremonies? still seem to limp along and like the bands themselves? hot air and bombast obviously still does the trick for some people.
Anyway this is what ALB say about their latest handing out of the prizes. We do have to ask though, whether anybody will actually be remembering these awards past next week.
The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2009 will not only be remembered as one of the largest and most well-attended awards nights for the legal industry in Asia but also for the performance of a select group of firms who shined the brightest at the event.
One of the highlights of the night was the keynote speech delivered by the Hon. Ronald Arculli Chairman, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and Member of the Executive Council, HKSAR.
Among all the winners, three are leading PRC law firms ? King & Wood, Jun He and Zhong Lun. Judged on their client service as well as their ability to combine rigorous analysis with astute judgment to give their clients a competitive edge, King & Wood walked away with two awards ? PRC Firm, Hong Kong Office of the Year and Project Finance Deal of the Year for advising on the Central Asia and China Gas Pipeline.
Pinning another ALB award to their lengthening list of accolades were Jun He and Zhong Lun, who both clinched an award for M&A Deal of Year ? China Merchant Bank?s acquisition of Wing Lung Bank.
