Above The Law Launches Their Interactive Do-It-Yourself Law School Ranking

Last week, Above the Law released our annual ranking of the Top 50 Law Schools. Our formula gives the greatest weight to employment outcomes, on the premise that the law schools that best serve their students are the ones that put them in the best position to land real lawyer jobs and pay off their student loans.

That said, we recognize that the priorities and ambitions of potential law students are wide-ranging. We are therefore pleased to announce the launch of the ATL Law School DIY, an interactive tool that lets you devise your own ranking formula to match your personal career goals.

The Law School DIY features 12 adjustable criteria, including several that are not components of our Top 50 rankings. If your goal is to get into the most selective school you can afford, dial up the weights for acceptance rate and median LSAT and factor in total cost and average debt. Maybe your dream is to work in the nonprofit world, in which case you might focus on schools that combine high placement in public interest jobs with relatively low cost. If you don’t care which law school has the most graduates sitting on the federal bench, but you do care about joining a diverse student population, adjust the weights accordingly.

Choose your own formula and design your own rankings. It’s up to you.
