ABKCO Asks Supreme Court to Reverse Concert Footage Copyright Escape

ABKCO Music Inc. asked the US Supreme Court to not let the owner of late music promoter Bill Graham’s archive off the hook personally after a copyright infringement trial that netted it a fraction of what it sought.

William Sagan wrongly escaped direct liability because he didn’t “push the button” when his company Bill Graham Archives LLC sold “massive numbers of bootleg concert recordings over the internet,” the independent record label said. The videos included performances by The Rolling Stones, The Who, the Grateful Dead, and others.
