UK: Research Librarian – Law

A global law firm has a requirement for a Research Librarian. This is an opportunity to join a large and localised team of 5 and across a wider global structure.

The core responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting lawyers with legal research for UK and international jurisdictions
  • Carry out business research for lawyers and business services
  • Advise lawyers on sources and search strategies
  • Promote the Library & Research Services to the firm
  • Participate in regularly scheduled global research team calls
  • Prepare daily current awareness alerts on legal topics, company news and topics of current interest

Suitable candidates will need to have the following skills and experience

  • A legal or LIS qualification
  • Previous experience in a similar librarian, business research or information role, ideally in a law firm
  • Experience of using library catalogues
  • Understanding of knowledge and information management principles and their application
  • Ideally, some understanding of copyright law
