All we can say that on day one he must have gone home shut the bathroom door and quietly face palmed and then taken a deep breath
.We ask how on earth by March 2 was a large Australian law firm not preparing for the onslaught.
The AFR reports….On Mark Pistilli’s first day as CEO of Gadens, he realised the law firm wasn’t ready for the havoc about to be unleashed by COVID-19.
“The first two questions I asked were ‘how prepared are we to respond to this coronavirus threat’ and secondly ‘how prepared are we to start completely working remotely’.
“The answer was that we were not as developed as we would like to be.
“The firm wasn’t appreciative of the threat at that time.”
It was March 2, and the former PwC partner effectively put the ambitious mid-tier firm on war footing. It started quarantining those that had been overseas and set its IT division to work.
When the firm ran some tests the results were promising, so from last Wednesday – ahead of this week’s lockdowns – it asked the 400 people in its Sydney and Melbourne offices to go remote, including IT staff.
