Job Description:
O’Melveny has an immediate need for a Library Manager in our Century City office. The primary function of this position is to manage all aspects of library and research services for the local office, working in conjunction with the Director of Information Services, Manager of Firmwide Resources and the Electronic Services staff. The primary responsibilities for this position include ensuring that all research needs of the attorneys, paralegals, staff and members of support departments are handled to meet the needs of the clients and firmwide administrative functions. This position will be responsible for fulfilling research requests from the local office, as well as handling requests that are submitted to the virtual research system from users in all offices. This position will also be responsible for making sure that electronic resources are supported in the office, by providing training and support to users, monitoring use of resources, handling access and passwords for resources and working with the Electronic Services staff to test and evaluate new products. In addition, this position will be responsible for working with the Director of Information Services and Manager of Firmwide Resources in making acquisition evaluations and decisions and in determining and managing to a budget for the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the Director of Information Services, the following functions will be performed:

Responsible for the effective performance of all library and research services within the Century City office.
Perform ready reference research at the request of attorneys or staff.
Using various electronic or print resources and internal information resources, respond to research requests from local attorneys and staff as well as requests submitted from all other offices to the virtual research system.
Monitor various legal, industry, client or subject topics to provide attorneys and staff with current developments, and activities.
Work with Electronic Services staff in managing electronic resources for the office, including password and access management, training and support on the resources, troubleshooting on issues and marketing new resources.
Work with the Electronic Services staff and other librarians to test and evaluate new electronic products.
Work with the Electronic Services Librarian and Manager of Firmwide Resources to evaluate and make recommendations on new product acquisitions.
Work with Director of Information Services and Manager of Firmwide Resources to develop and implement new technologies and innovations.
Work with Director of Information Services and Manager of Firmwide Resources to develop and monitor the annual budget and to meet the budget requirements.
Coordinate local technical services functions, including receiving new items, processing invoices and managing filing service functions.

Job Requirements:Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Masters Degree in Library Science or related degree is required.
Six years of research experience in a legal environment is preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with budget management preferred.
Ability to provide excellent client service and work as a team with other library staff to develop and implement new technologies and innovations.
Experience with standard legal resources, such as Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, WK Cheetah, Pacer and other related subscription services.
Demonstrated experience with databases, software applications and integrated library systems.
Ability to work under time constraints and in a high-pressure environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
Strong organization skills, adept at multi-tasking and prioritization.
