The University of Adelaide is a leading research intensive and teaching University comprising five faculties including the Faculty of the Professions.  The Faculty of the Professions encompasses six separate schools, covering a diverse range of disciplines. Each School is responsible for one or more programs with a strong professional orientation. The Faculty provides enabling services and resource capacity to support the teaching and research objectives of its constituent Schools.

The Adelaide Law School was founded as a separate Faculty in 1883, almost two decades before federation. It is the second oldest Law School in Australia. The School presently has a student body of about 1,500 with approximately 38 full time academic staff and 7 professional staff working in the Adelaide Law School (ALS).

We currently have a number of casual roles available in the Adelaide Law School and through the Law Library.

2 x Rsesearch Assistant – HEO4, Step 2 – 100 hours

Working under general direction of the Associate Dean (Research), the Research Assistant/s will be required to undertake specific research tasks as identified by the Associate Dean.  The Research Assistant/s will be required to complete research tasks in collaboration with identified academic staff.

Salary: (HEO4, Step 2) $41.57 per hour

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies

Term of position: up to 100 hours, to be completed by 31 December 2019.

Position Requirements (Research Assistant):

To be successful you should:

  • Be in your penultimate year of the LLB
  • Have attained a GPA of 5.0
  • Show demonstrated research ability

Ask Library Casual Assistant – HEO2, Step 4 – casual hours

Working under general direction of the University of Adelaide Library and Associate Dean (Research), we are seeking enthusiastic casual staff with a flare for customer service to assist in a range of duties in the provision of front-line services, involving significant face-to-face support for students.

We are specifically seeking casuals who can work Saturdays in the Law Library for the 1pm-5pm shift, as well as establishing a larger pool of casual students for the library across other locations.

Salary: (HEO2, Step 4) $34.09 hourly rate

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies.

Term of position: casual

Position requirements (Ask Library Casual Assistant):

To be successful you should have:

  • Completed at least 2 years of a single law degree or 3 years of a double law degree
  • Attained a GPA of 5.0
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills
  • A proven record of reliability, punctuality and a dedicated work ethic
  • Demonstrated research ability
