The Awards and Bursaries Committee are now accepting applications for bursaries to assist in attending the Australian Law Librarians Association 2018 conference from 2-4 May in Darwin, Northern Territory. Further details about the conference can be found here: http://allaconference.com.au/2018/
How much can I apply for?
Up to £1000 is available depending on your application and as determined by the Committee. Additional funding may be available in exceptional circumstances. Please note that the bursaries are intended to assist with costs in attending overseas conferences, not to cover all conference expenses. The applicant will need to contribute additional funds to help cover the entire cost.
Criteria for applications:
In order for the Committee to make a decision, applicants are expected to submit a detailed application explaining their particular interest in attending the conference of their choice. In awarding a bursary the Committee may base its decision on a number of factors including:
- the quality of the application, including reference to the conference programme and specific sessions of interest
- whether, or not, an applicant has received a BIALL bursary in recent years. Preference may be given to those who have not benefited from a bursary in the past.
- if there is an expectation of future commitment and performance in the law library profession
- proven or potential contribution to and /or participation in the Association’s activities
- the ability to be a good ambassador for BIALL, including being prepared to participate in conference sessions and activities
All bursary recipients are expected to write a report that may be published in the BIALL Newsletter, LIM or the BIALL Blog.
