The Know-How Group play a pivotal role in providing our legal staff with ongoing and up-to-date research and information assistance and are responsible for library and research tools, precedents, intranets, collaboration tools and databases.

Your role

An exciting opportunity exists in the Melbourne office for an experienced Library Technician to join our highly regarded Know-How team. This is a fulfilling and varied role where you will be a valued member of the team. We are flexible and welcome applicants seeking a part-time or full-time working arrangement.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting staff with their queries, either directly or referring on where appropriate
  • Processing library records and library financial transactions
  • Locating, retrieving and supplying information resources
  • Coordinating the loose leaf filing process including the collection and return of resources
  • Maintaining the library collection, shelving and displays
  • Updating the library catalogue and Know-How databases
  • Providing training for staff on use of the library systems and databases
  • Supporting the Librarians and national Know-How team with any additional tasks to uphold the overall quality and functioning of the library

What you need

Ideally, you will have:

  • A Diploma of Library and Information Services, providing you with eligibility for professional (Library technician) membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • A profound commitment to day-to-day client service
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Readiness to manage your work and a willingness to contribute actively to team goals
  • Excellent information gathering, organisational and presentation skills
  • The ability and willingness to learn new systems and procedures
  • Sound communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Software literacy with DB/TextWorks, Excel and Word
