Main Purpose of the Role
To be pro-active in the commissioning, acquisition, and development of content across all formats.

A pro-active and experienced content commissioner. Someone with a strong drive to succeed, a strong interest in the law and keeping abreast of new technology/online trends within the legal community.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
List development:
- Commission new content across multiple market sectors ensuring the most appropriate author/provider is identified to deliver high quality content which meets customer expectations in a timely manner.
- Manage the commissioning process, agreeing content, budget, and deadlines with authors; manage output and content quality against these deliverables.
- Prepare strategic summaries of practice areas to feed into business cases for new products and enhancements.
- Contribute to the budgeting and re-forecasting process and own and manage publications.
- Accurately report on contingency and risk for the re-forecasting and budget process.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential authors to enable smooth commissioning of work in the future.
- Develop and maintain strong and supportive relationships with authors and internal stakeholders so as to develop a network to feed into strategic work and to ensure future plans align with other teams.
Market research and customer needs:
- Support the development of PSL modules within own practice areas.
- Maintain market and subject area knowledge so as to become an acknowledged practice area expert.
- Assist Sales team with customer visits and gathering insights.
- Collect market intelligence on competitors and provide analysis and interpretation of this intelligence.
- Contribute to sales and marketing plans, gathering feedback and testimonials from customers to optimise the sales of practice area products and services.
- Identify and respond to market developments to ensure new and existing products are in line with customer segment requirements.
- Carry out market studies to feed into product development pipelines.
- Review existing portfolio of products with customers and identify and make recommendations on areas to develop.

Person Specification
Essential:
- Of graduate calibre.
- Publishing experience: relevant experience in commissioning/product development and editorial processes
- Experience working in business to business information services.
- Knowledge of legal markets an advantage.
