Our client is a leading legal practice providing advice on all aspects of legal and commercial risk management in the marine sector including: complex marine casualties; insurance issues; cargo, charter party and bill of landing disputes.
I am seeking to recruit a Solicitor/Mariner to work closely with the partners and other fee earners within the practice.
The role…
*Casualty investigation – physical attendance at the casualty to investigate cause, liability and technical aspects of the loss
*Involvement in post-casualty legal disputes and proceedings for example salvage and collision claims
*Utilising technical expertise to assist in handling defence instructions, advice on insurance coverage and recovery actions against third parties
*General advisory work
*Any other tasks that are deemed appropriate
The person…
*Master Mariner qualification or other significant seafaring experience
*Previous experience within a marine team at a City law firm in respect of:
ocasualty investigation;
oprovision of in-house technical expertise and assistance in respect of coverage, defence and recovery instructions;
oday to day case handling where appropriate.
*Preferably qualified as a lawyer within a common law jurisdiction
