Winners Announced – 10th annual ALB SE Asia Law Awards

Asian Legal Business (ALB) is delighted to announce the official list of winners for the 10th annual ALB SE Asia Law Awards, which was held on May 29 at Fullerton Hotel, Singapore.
The event recognised the leading law firms and legal work throughout SE Asia across a total of 38 categories. The evening drew 250 high-profile legal luminaries, including globally renowned law firms, in-house counsel and investment banks from all of the region’s jurisdictions.

The awards highlight the investment and commitment these individuals and firms have made in ASEAN, and celebrates their capabilities within a competitive global market,” said Andrew Smart, Managing Director, Legal Media Group, Thomson Reuters. “With 600 million consumers and the full establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, ASEAN is increasingly attractive as an investment destination. The guest of honour for the event, Lee Ming Chua, General Counsel, Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, and Vice President, SCCA also commented: "The Singapore Law Awards is the premier event that celebrates the fantastic job that lawyers, both private practice and in-house, did in the past year. The accolades are all the more valuable as they are primarily peer-driven. In results which recognised a large number of firms in different categories, Allen & Overy was the most successful firm on the night, taking home the SE Asian Firm of the Year award, the Energy & Resources Law Firm of the Year, and the Emerging Markets Law Firm of the Year, whilst also participating in deals winning 4 of the deal categories. Baker & McKenzie were the only other firm to win more than one individual award, and carried home trophies for their work in Thailand and Intellectual Property practices, as well as also being part of 2 of the winning awards, both in the M&A field. Freshfields’ managing partner, Stephen Revell, won the coveted Managing Partner of the Year award
For the in-house teams, Asian Development Bank won 2 awards – Innovative In-House Team of the Year and Banking & Financial Services In-House Team of the Year, but came second to Morgan Stanley, who were rewarded with the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association Award Singapore In–House Team of the Year trophy among the 4 trophies they took home with them. Choo Suit-Mae from Sime Darby Berhad won the SE Asia In-House Lawyer of the Year award.
