To liaise and communicate with Group Legal & Group Compliance as required
To provide advisory support raised by Group Compliance, Group Legal and GWB Legal from time to time
To coordinate with Group Compliance, Group Legal and GWB Legal to ensure projects, directives and standards initiated by Head Office are rolled out consistently to Greater China from legal & compliance perspective, where applicable
Conducting research on areas of law and giving opinions within the timelines set in the KPI in respect of queries from internal customers and project owners from Maybank Greater China. Verbal opinions are also given daily to those internal customers who require the same
Monitoring of all material litigation cases against Maybank Greater China
Drafting entails drafting agreements, standard facility and security documents, specimen security documents and standard schedules for both loan and other products to be introduced by Maybank Greater China from time to time, drafting various other agreements required by the respective departments
Conducting meetings to have better understanding in the commercial terms and conditions of the products and operational aspects of transactions to assist the drafting process
Liaise with external lawyers if necessary in respect of transaction documents and assist the various departments to review the drafts prepared by external lawyers so that the transaction documents are in line with the Bank’s requirements
Vetting entails vetting of all types of security documents, agreements, contracts including but not limited to commercial contracts which Maybank Greater China is entering into letters, product papers, forms and terms and conditions to ensure that Maybank Greater China’s interest are duly considered
Working with other departments to formulate the policies, procedures and other related documents
Preparing papers to higher management and issuing circulars / SPIs in respect thereof
Attending meeting with the Regulators on a regular basis to facilitate such review
To actively liaise with Regulators/Government Authorities and to take opportunities to reflect our Greater China Legal capabilities to them
To contribute effectively to the achievement of team goals and provide assistance to team members of Legal Team across Greater China
Supervisory/Managerial functions for the day to day matters handled by Legal Team members across Greater China
Assisting with all administrative matters and planning matters to ensure compliance with all management implementations; attending to the formulation of action plans, solutions and plans required by the various sectors of the Bank and management
Desired Skills and Experience
Recognized degrees or equivalent professional qualification in Law or related disciplines
Minimum 15 years experiences in legal or relevant field
