The global law firm moved into its new premises in the QV.1 Tower in the Central Park complex on Monday (17 February).
KWM has signed a 10-year lease to take three floors in the building at St Georges Terrace.
“We have gone one step further and embraced a 100 per cent open plan approach; however, this is beyond breaking down structural barriers – it is a new way of working,” said Sue Kench, the firm’s Australian managing partner.
Staff at the firm will sit in open pods with low partitions to encourage collaboration.
KWM is the latest large law firm to move into new premises recently.
Earlier this month, Wotton + Kearney moved from its current premises in Phillip Street to Castlereagh Street in Sydney.
National law firms Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Herbert Smith Freehills also moved into new Sydney offices in the second half of last year.
In November, a Lawyers Weekly roundtable of four senior law firm partners looked at how the law-firm office environment can affect productivity and mental health.
“We are in the business of people, that’s it, full stop, and for a long time we all worked in premises that had no regard to that,” said Herbert Smith Freehills partner Peter Dunne.
“The premises now seek to address that.”
HSF moved into its new Sydney premises at the ‘ANZ Tower’ on Castlereagh Street in August.
KWM has 89 lawyers, 19 support staff and 26 shared services staff in Perth.
