The firm, which has been advising on Indonesian matters from its hubs in Singapore and Hong Kong for over 30 years, has relocated M&A chief Jeroen Koster from Amsterdam to lead the association.

Clifford Chance said the associated firm would focus on corporate M&A, banking and finance and capital markets work.

Koster was replaced on the partnership council in 2012 (29 February 2012) after being re-elected to sit on it in 2010 (8 March 2010). He specialisies in cross border mergers and acquisitions and contractual and corporate partnerships.

It is the latest in a host of bids to boost the firms presence across the Asia Pacific region. In December 2012 Clifford Chance teamed up with Singapore litigation boutique Cavenagh Law to form an integrated full service offering in the jursidction under the banner ‘Clifford Chance Asia’.

It took the form of a formal law alliance (FLA), which allows the two firms to provide Singapore and international advice from a joined-up platform. The firm was the first to take advantage of new government rules to allow FLA firms to share profits
