China’s intellectual protection system evolving rapidly: experts

CHICAGO, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — China’s intellectual protection (IP) system has undergone rapid development, two distinguished Chinese-American experts said Thursday.

On the sidelines of a forum held here, Dr. Morgan Chu, a partner at Irell & Manella LLP, said the development of Chinese IP system has been at a “break neck speed.”

“Over time I strongly believe IP protection in China will become stronger in a balanced way which will encourage both capital investment and investment in people in greater and higher technology,” Chu told Xinhua at the U.S.-China IP Protection Cooperation and Research Forum at John Marshall Law School

China’s IP law enforcement is evolving at the same time, and ultimately a balanced enforcement will be good for China and its development, said Chu, who was named the Outstanding Intellectual Property Lawyer in the United States in 2006.

Chu added that there is much room for the two countries to have IP cooperation.
