QUEENSLAND Law Society has recruited one of the top lawyers from the Australian Government Solicitor’s office to be its new chief executive officer.

"For me it’s a great opportunity to work with the QLS and practitioners in Queensland," L’Estrange says.

"I am a Queenslander by birth so it gives us an opportunity to go home, if you like.

"One of the continuing strands through the whole of my professional career has been a firm focus on both corporate governance and client service, and being CEO of the QLS gives me a really good opportunity to bring those skills to the service of a very large professional member organisation."

Despite having spent nearly 11 years at the AGS in Canberra, L’Estrange has strong ties to the Queensland legal community.

She was a lecturer at Queensland University of Technology’s law faculty for 13 years, worked in the Brisbane office of Deacons and ran her own legal management consultancy.
