Has James Ashton Of The Sunday Times Set The Cat Amongst The Pigeons

Thanks to one of our London contacts who sent through a nice little clipping authored by James Ashton the City Editor at the UK’s Sunday Times..

In a small piece, published this past Sunday, he outlines some of the problems that Reed are having and especially the issues Reed CEO? Erik Engstrom is beginning to encounter with market rumours and chatter about the company’s recent purchase of Accuity at a quoted cost of ?343 million

?

Ashton goes on to suggest in his column that Reed is heading for a break up.

?

He writes…” The real story is whether Reed can avoid a break up….. Selling Lexis Nexis spinning out its risk arm, or even hiving off Elsevier to cut the group in two, might begin”

?

HOB’s mini report on this yesterday is generating more traffic than we’ve seen for a story in quite a while

?

So … the question is.? If they do sell? Who’s the buyer? another publisher? Google ?? House of Butter ?!
