Almost half way through the year ? which year?
It?s always d?j? vu with the big publishers who seem to love to generate their own dramas ?by repeating history when trying to raise revenue.
Either they have very short memories or maybe it?s the fact that staff aren?t long enough at the companies to know that somebody tried the same trick only 18 months ago.
Who are we taliking about ?
TR Westlaw are this weeks? ??fools du jour? ?
Did they really thing that they?d get away with allowing Westlaw ( ?classic? we?ll call it) users to have immediate access to Westlaw Next ?via their desktops and thus destroying any notion of budgetry awaremess for legal KM?s and librarians.
See our reference to a report by Joe Hodnicki of Law Librarians Blog (USA) who ?has on everybody?s behalf detailed exactly what TR West are up to.
Trying to take further pennies from an already empty pot of library budgets isn?t going to endear them to anyone. ?
We wonder if they?ll try and do the same thing in the UK , Aus , NZ markets.
