Protecting information and knowledge assets and resources: a commercial provider’s viewpoint

Here’s the skinny….

Speaker: Malcolm Weston
Date: 17-03-2010
Location and time: The Intellectual Property Office, 21 Bloomsbury Street, London WC1B 3HF (nearest underground station Tottenham Court Road), 2.00 for 2.30

Meeting details: Information and Knowledge are key organisational assets. Many would argue that the tangible records of an organisation?s work are the only assets that really count. However, they are also very vulnerable: to physical damage, to loss, to intellectual theft and so on.

This seminar will provide an overview of key principles, and some key insights from URS, one of the world?s leading engineering and construction services firms, on how they are addressing the issues involved. It will explore how organisations might address the challenges in terms of IT, policies and procedures, and legislation.

As is the standard practice for NetIKX seminars, delegates will have an opportunity to explore the issues involved in more detail through syndicate (or break-out) discussions.

Suggested learning objectives:
? To understand the main principles for protecting information and knowledge assets and resources
? To gain insights from an established practitioner in this field
? To consider what (additional) issues individuals should be addressing in their own organisations and/or new ways that they might do so

Please note that as you have to be escorted to the meeting room, you do need to arrive promptly
