The body of lawyer Gabriel da Silva Alves was found on Saturday (29), in the city of Xique-Xique, in the west of the state. The professional had been missing for about a week, as confirmed by the Civil Police delegate in the municipality, Diego Henrique Delmondes and a friend of the family. The Civil Police have been sought to provide further details on the incident, but they have not responded so far.
Farewell ceremonies are scheduled for this Sunday (30). The wake will take place at 10 a.m., in the residence of the lawyer’s parents, located in the neighborhood BNH Velho. On the same day, at 4:00 p.m., a mass will be celebrated in his honor at Igreja Nossa Senhora Aparecida, followed by burial, scheduled for 5:00 p.m., in the cemetery of the neighborhood BNH Novo. The city of Xique-Xique expressed regret for the death by means of an official note published on social networks.
Preliminary investigations indicated that, last Thursday (27), the motorcycle and other belongings of Gabriel da Silva Alves were located in a forest area in the rural area of the municipality. Next to the vehicle were also found the glasses and a pair of sandals that belonged to the lawyer. The disappearance was recorded after he was last seen on Saturday (22), while participating in a fraternization with friends in a bar. Security camera footage recorded the moment he left the establishment.
Family reports indicate that the lawyer used his motorcycle to get out of the place. Moments before his disappearance, he made a call to a friend, who failed to understand the message due to interference in the call. From the beginning of the case, family members and friends conducted intense searches, going through caatinga areas, using canoes in the river and visiting riverside houses. It was during those searches that the belongings were found. The Order of Lawyers of Brazil (OAB) at Bahia followed the case and requested support from the population, while the family even offered a reward of R $ 5,000 for information that led to the whereabouts of Gabriel da Silva Alves.
