Late-night comic John Oliver is taunting Buc-ee’s over its legal tactics. In his HBO comedy show Last Week Tonight, Oliver recently called attention to a series of lawsuits over what the Texas company calls trademark infringement. A number of them involve suits against companies with rodent mascots. Some, he said, make sense. Others, he said, seem like bullying.
“I would argue, if you get confused between those two logos, that is an issue with you because one is a beaver and one is a moose,” Oliver said.
On his show, Oliver announced a new website, Buc-off.com, that features spoof Buc-ee’s merchandise like t-shirts, hats, and tumblers with proceeds going to Hunger Free America.
