Issue 178? 7 August 2009 of LLN/eu has now been published..

Here's the Table Of Contents and editorial
Editorial
A couple of big stories this issue. CCH Australia have published another one of their white papers. This time they?ve surveyed clients on EDM use. The paper is entitled ?Professionals and Electronic Document Management Whitepaper? and we report on it in the LLN news section and we also have some commentary on the white paper by CCH Australia?s KM specialist, Linda Moore, in our publisher?s articles section of the newsletter.
?
In other news Lexis have closed down one of their Canadian offices and West say they have launched a campaign in the US to promote role of law librarians in public & private sectors.
?
In Joy?s ?excited utterances? section of the newsletter she reports on a new paper whose goal is to develop a global ranking of KM and intellectual capital academic journals. She also refers to work by James Tuke, the Head of Intendance Research, who looks at the way in which law firms are adapting their web sites to take account of Web 2.0 technology.
?
Suprisingly, considering current market conditions there are plenty of jobs on offer in the US & UK for law librarians. Most of them are in the public / academic sector or are part time positions to cover maternity leave, but good to see that there are still jobs out there to be had.
?
Finally if you have a moment;do take a look at an article by Jordan Furlong of Law 21, that we?ve included in the conferences section of the newsletter. He writes in Three hotspots for change
I thought I?d bring your attention to three upcoming conferences that crystallize the enormous changes taking place in the legal services marketplace these days. I aim to attend all three, but if you can get to even one of them, you?ll be exposed to some tremendous insights into what?s happening in the legal profession right now
