India: Rohini Bar calls for strike over police inaction after lawyer’s kin shot dead

The Rohini Court Bar Association (RCBA) on Tuesday called for a strike on March 25 to protest police inaction after a brutal attack at an advocate’s house, which resulted in his brother being shot dead.

On March 19, miscreants attacked the house of Advocate Pawan Bhardwaj, which resulted in his brother’s death, while his father and nephew suffered bullet injuries.

The executive committee of RCBA noted that even though the incident had been captured on nearby CCTV cameras, police had not arrested a single person involved in the attack in the six days following the incident.

RCBA strongly condemned the attack and requested senior police officials to take immediate and proper action.

“Accordingly, it has been unanimously resolved that a Strike/Abstinence from Work is called for tomorrow, i.e., 25th March 2026 to show solidarity and brotherhood among the members of the fraternity,” RCBA said in its notice, signed by President Rajiv Tehlan and Honorary Secretary Pardeep Khatri.

“All members are requested to support Advocate Pawan Bhardwaj and his family in this difficult time and to cooperate,” they added.
