Book launch and discussion of Law and Technology

Dr David Cowan’s latest title Law and Technology will be launched on Thursday 5 February at the Royal Society of Antiquaries on Merrion Square, Dublin 2.

The book launch  will include a panel discussion about the themes of the book Dr Cowan and Mr Justice Frank Clarke, Chief Justice of Ireland (July 2017-October 2021) & President of the Law Reform Commission, who authored the foreword to Dr Cowan’s book; Naoise Ó Cearúil TD, Spokesperson on Artificial Intelligence & Gaeltacht Affairs. TD for Kildare North; Michael O’Doherty, Co-founder and Chairperson of  the Media, Internet and Data Protection Bar Association (MIDBA); and, Dr. Barry Scannell, Partner, William Fry, Technology Group.

Law and Technology is an authoritative text for practitioners and a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses in the discipline, as well as a reference on the impact of technology on other legal disciplines, for example company law, criminal law and the law of torts. The issues covered are extensive and include the EU AI Act, Cybersecurity, ransomware attack, data protection, surveillance, right to privacy, data misuse, internet jurisdiction, online hate, and online harassment and stalking.
