Job Description
Reports hierarchically to Corporate Affairs and functionally to the Head of Legal.
Activities:
- Provide legal advice on development/growth projects, from confidentiality agreements and pre-contractual negotiations to structuring and negotiating acquisitions/joint ventures/divestments and new entity creations across the Asia-Pacific region, in close liaison with Paris head office.
- Provide legal advice and guidance with regard to commercial activities across the Asia-Pacific region, including company and corporate law, commercial law, contract law etc.
- Advise TOTAL management on all legal matters arising under Singapore law.
- Ensure compliance of TOTAL affiliates in Singapore with legal obligations in all fields (corporate, administrative, etc) and oversee compliance of TOTAL affiliates in the Asia Pacific region with their respective legal obligations.
- Draft, review and evaluate legal documents, reports and contracts within TOTAL affiliates in Singapore and Asia Pacific as may be necessary.
- Coordinate with external legal firms.
- Advise the business on changes in Singapore law and the impact of those changes on TOTAL affiliates in Singapore.
Context and Environment:
- Based in Singapore with occasional business travel to affiliates within Asia-Pacific and France if required
- Work independently but must interact and liaise closely with Corporate Affairs, Paris head office and operational business personnel to provide legal support for the business
- Maintain close contact with the relevant authorities and external lawyers to understand the update and trends of laws and regulations
Desired Skills & Experience
Education
Degree in law (LLB) from Singapore or reputable overseas university and called to the Singapore bar
Experience
- At least 6 years post qualification experience, preferably in an international law firm, otherwise in the legal department of a multi-national company.
- International mobility
Skills- Good knowledge of Singapore law and legal matters in Singapore
- English native speaker essential, French or Chinese an asset
