A solicitor whose philosophy is “plenty of smiles” said he was inspired to set up his own firm after he was ridiculed by his colleagues for being too nice.
Harry “Just Ask Harry!” Suleman’s firm, Harry Suleman Solicitors, wears its Harry heart on its sleeve.
Leading with an exceptional shot of Suleman mid-‘ta-da’, his website tells the story of how he lost his peers when he found “the human way”.
“A long time ago, in a legal world far far away, an idealistic young Harry vowed to do his very best, for every single client, every single time”, he explains.
“But he found that the rest of the legal world approached things differently. His former bosses believed solicitors needed to be cut-throat, guarded and focused on fees. They saw Harry’s warmth and relationship-based approach as rebellious and something to laugh at.”
But Harry did not crumble under the weight of their mockery. “Despite pressure and ridicule, Harry refused to change his ways”, and instead he quit and set up on his own.
As for where he encountered those mean lawyers, personal injury specialist Suleman isn’t explicit. He previously worked at Weightmans for five years, but it’s his stint at Lyons Davidson that gets namechecked – he said his insistence at LD on “seeing clients where I could & adopting a very personal approach… sometimes didn’t go down very well”.
But now Harry’s the boss. And that means no one can clamp down on photoshoots.
“Can’t pay? No problem!”
