Cloud Computing 2024
Published 8 October 2024
If it is true that the world of information technology has become easier to access and use, it can also be said that for some people, it represents a mysterious Aladdin’s cave that can be difficult to enter. Ask the people on the street, and you will find out that not many of them will be able to explain what a cloud (not the white mass in the sky) is. In simple words, an IT cloud offers computer users a special on-demand place on the World Wide Web to upload, manage and preserve their data and files for eternity.
Cloud computing has become an essential part of modern business operations, providing organisations with an efficient and cost-effective replacement for servers and hard drives, but because it is the vault where our precious data is kept, it demands a stack of bullet-proof procedures to keep this treasure safe. Our Cloud Computing 2024 e-book can help unravel the secrets of the cloud, providing the latest regulation from key technical jurisdictions on data protection and privacy, contractual issues and intellectual property. Guidance is also given on how businesses can navigate the risks of cyber-attacks, with an insight into all the providers (Apple, Google, Microsoft and so on) available to us in the continuously developing sector of cloud computing services.

Alternative Funds 2024
Published 17 October 2024
On the 17th of October, we were delighted to present the 2024 edition of our Alternative Funds guide, which covers the less traditional types of investment portfolios accessible in the current risky financial market. The guide’s contributing editor Elizabeth Shea Fries from Sidley Austin LLP, explains that although this year, global markets have enjoyed generally good results for alternative fund investments, the rapid developments in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and sustainability have pushed law firms around the world to develop new regulation and enforcement methods to stay afloat with the current trends. It has been noticed, in fact, that sponsors and investors in alternative investments have had to become more resilient and creative, adding transactions for co-investments, general partner stakes and ESG assets to the familiar management of stocks and bonds. At the same time, stronger compliance and transparency have been imposed in the dealings exchanged with investors and regulators for these new revenues.
White-Collar Crime 2024
Published 24 October 2024
With the globalisation of business, corporate non-violent crimes have also become widespread and international. Now in its fifth edition and introduced by senior partner Aziz Raham Ravelli from the UK office of his homonymous firm, the Chambers White-Collar Crime e-guide has been released to ensure that practitioners, particularly those operating within the commercial sector, are equipped to manage all aspects of this kind of wrongdoings in the jurisdiction in which they operate. Our publication provides information on different regulation and enforcement systems in about 60 countries and contains detailed analyses and opinions from international lawyers on the enforcement of the law in relation to white-collar offences, including misconduct, bribery, money laundering and greenwashing.
Whistleblowing procedures are also given a dedicated space as it has been noticed that companies are increasingly likely to self-report their internal transgressions, hoping to be rewarded with more lenient treatment, not forgetting references to the rapid rise in cryptocurrency-related fraud occurring in the current digital world deprived of individual currencies and borders. Our contributors also describe famous cases of violation where criminal charges were brought and tried, including a number of high-profile cases which were won thanks to the cooperation of authorities and legal systems from different states.
