Details: The authors of the document suggest recognising the decision about the return of Crimea as “illegal and contradicting fundamental principles of a lawful state and the international law”.
Details: The members of the Russian Parliament believe that the transfer of Crimea should be recognized as “illegal” in order to “knock away the ground from under the propaganda of the Ukrainian authorities about occupation of Crimea in 2014”.
The authors think that after the 1954 decision is recognised as invalid, it will allegedly “be way harder to support Kyiv’s intention to take back Crimea” for Ukraine allies.
The authors of the draft law are Russian MP Konstantin Zatulin and Senator Sergey Tsekov from the United Russia political party.
