Researcher / Information Officer – Law – Birmingham
A Researcher / Information Officer is required by one the leading Anglo-American law firms. This is a newly created role that will be based in the firms Birmingham office. This role is primarily business and legal research focused and sits within a team of 8 that serves the UK, Europe and APAC regions. It is a position that could be suited to someone relatively new to industry as well as an experienced information professional from a law or professional services setting, but the key requirement is strong research skills and confidence in working with a mix of stakeholders.
In this role, the key responsibilities and objectives include, but are not limited to:
- Providing a centralised research function in support of multiple practice areas
- Servicing complex research requests covering business and legal.
- Supporting the UK, Europe and APAC regions
- Working within a UK research team comprised of 8 team members across different geographical locations
- Providing, and participating in the development of a cutting edge current awareness service
- Assisting in the provision of both training and the development of a self-service culture within the firm
- Supporting on the development of the firms intranet and other knowledge sharing resources
To be a suitable candidate for this role, candidates will need the following experience, skills and qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar Information Officer, Research Librarian, Business or Legal Research role
- Very strong legal and business research skills, ideally gained in a law or legal environment
- A LIS or MLIS would be be preferred, but is not a pre-requisite
- Experience in the provision of a current awareness service and in supporting wider knowledge management based functions
- A confident communicator that enjoys the challenge of interacting with, training and supporting stakeholders at all organisational levels
- Keen to undertake a role that will require complex research tasks that are aligned to multiple different practice areas
This role will be Birmingham based but will most likely require 2 days per week in the office. This role is also offering a salary that is above the prevailing rate for similar roles in the West Midlands
