50 Cent, Fat Joe Hit By Copyright Suit Over 2000s Hip-Hop Hits

Hip-hop stars Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and 50 Cent were accused of stealing from a Maryland producer when publishing their 2004 and 2005 songs “Lean Back” and “Candy Shop.”

David W. Smith II, a music producer and publisher from Randallstown, Md., alleged the artists infringed on his copyright by lifting principal elements from his 2003 song “WHACHACOM4?”
