A federal watchdog investigating a secret romantic relationship between a judge and a partner of a Texas law firm has filed a court motion in Oregon seeking to compel evidence from two Portland ethics lawyers the firm consulted.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David R. Jones resigned from the bench on Oct. 3, 2023, after it was disclosed he had been involved romantically with attorney Elizabeth Freeman, a now-former partner of the Texas law firm and the judge’s former law clerk.
