The flamboyant New York lawyer who once led Phil Spector's defense quit yesterday hours before testimony concluded in the four-month murder trial.
Lawyer Bruce Cutler and Spector acknowledged the unusual last-hour split stemmed from the music producer's decision not to have Cutler deliver the defense's closing arguments to jurors, which are set to get under way next week. Spector said he recommended to Cutler that he leave. The producer has a team of four veteran lawyers who can deliver the summation.
