Research Advisor, law (part time)

Part time! A global law firm requires a Research Advisor to join their global Research & Business Intelligence team in London. Using a range of research resources you will provide in-depth and solution-focused legal and company research to legal and business services teams within the firm’s offices in the UK, and supporting colleagues in EMEA, US, and Asia Pacific. This contract is initially for 3 months with a possibility of an extension to 6 months, 3 days per week.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Provide reference and research advice to internal and external clients as part of a global research team.
  • Deliver legal and business research solutions to enable internal clients to quickly make informed decisions.
  • Assist current awareness teams to scope and set up alerts on legal, client, and industry topics.
  • Build working relationships with stakeholders and promote the Research & Business Intelligence team and its role.
  • Contribute to collection development processes.
  • Source material from external libraries when required.
  • Maintain knowledge of available resources and content to facilitate effective research.
  • Manage the workflow of research tasks, including scoping and understanding requests.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging search techniques and technologies.
  • Share knowledge with the Research & Business Intelligence community, contributing to guidance and team learning.
  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated research skills, with experience in a legal or professional services environment preferred.
  • Sophisticated skills in using online resources and knowledge of products available.
  • Understanding of the UK legal system and ability to keep up to date of new resources, new technology and research tools available.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a geographically dispersed global team.
  • Commercial and business acumen.
  • An information-related qualification/law or business studies preferred.
